KCIL's first conference exploring living with disabilities in Kingston was held at Chessington Safari Hotel on 12th September 2016. With nearly 100 delegates and an exciting programme, the day was a great success. In the morning, speakers included paralympian Ross Morrison, Colin Morris from the DWP explaining the process of moving from DLA to PIP, Alan Benson from Transport for All discussing making public transport public, Paul Featherstone from Balance talking about your route to work and, finally, a group of young people discussing making their voices heard.
Following lunch which many people enjoyed on the terrace and time to explore the exhibition, delegates had a choice of four workshops: Live Well, Be Well with YMCA Inclusive Lives, sharing views about the local NHS, how to complain effectively with BL Claims and planning accessible units with MMA Architects.
Inspired by the speakers and workshops, many delegates chose to share their #MyAdventure in the photo room.
