Dear Members,
You will have noticed that there has been a long gap in production of this newsletter. I would like to apologise for this gap, and to make a couple of points.
Firstly, it is with great regret that I have to inform you that Marc Moss has had to leave his post as Chief Executive of KCIL. After worsening health, Marc has had to take early retirement. He will be sadly missed by all office staff, trustees and volunteers; he will be missed, of course, by many KCIL members who have known him over the years. I would like to say a big thank you for all his hard work in the six years he spent working for KCIL.
Sadly, our Direct Payments Outreach Worker, Julie Turner, is also leaving KCIL, having worked for us over the last five years. However, we are delighted to report that she is moving to Disability Croydon, to take charge of their Direct Payments Scheme. Julie’s Support Worker, Michelle Jeffreys will be making the move with her. We wish Julie and Michelle well with their new venture.
On a brighter note, we have been joined (in early August), by Stella Wanderema, as our new Direct Payments Support Worker. She will be working closely with Rosemary and Sheila, focusing on the financial side of the Scheme.
Since Marc’s departure, the office has been stretched to full capacity. We are now recruiting a new Chief Executive and a new Direct Payments Outreach Worker. As a result, this newsletter is of reduced content. Please bear with us.
We will have a satisfactory newsletter ready for the Autumn Issue. If you have any thoughts, issues or articles of interest for the next issue, please send them in to KCIL, by the end of September 2007.
Anna Kavanagh, KCIL Chairperson
