Personal Assistant User Group (PAUG)

The Personal Assistant User Group (PAUG) is a friendly opportunity for scheme users to meet on a regular basis. Meetings are the focal point for discussion of all issues related to being an employer of personal assistants.

Purpose

  • To provide support, encouragement and information to people receiving direct payments from Kingston Council and to those considering taking up a Direct Payment.
  • To promote and encourage the take up of direct payments as widely as possible.
  • To raise awareness of the benefits of direct payments.

Membership is open to anyone who receives, or is eligible to receive, a direct payment from Kingston Council.

Activities

PAUG members meet regularly four times a year for training and updates, and to share experiences and information and to provide mutual support. Scheme users may bring a PA to support them to access the meetings. PAs who attend do so to act as facilitators for their employer, and are not participating members of the group.

PAUG Update

A newsletter, PAUG Update, is published after every meeting. It features the minutes of the past meeting, and provides timely information to direct payments recipients. Any PAUG member may contribute to the newsletter.

Anyone who receives, or is eligible to receive, a direct payment from Kingston Council, is a PAUG member, and will automatically receive copies of the PAUG Update newsletter. Membership is free.

A network list of experienced PAUG members is updated and circulated yearly so that other members, and prospective members, may contact them for advice and support on any aspect of managing a direct payment. From time to time, individual PAUG members may be paired with new or potential members to act as a mentor and provide ongoing one to one support until the new member becomes a confident direct payments user.

If you’d like to get in touch with a current scheme user from the support network, contact Rosemary Green, Direct Payments Co-ordinator, on 020 8481 1448.
