Direct Payment User Group Meeting

You are warmly invited to join us on

Thursday, 20th May 2010,

10.30am – 3.00pm

at

Richard Mayo Centre at the United Reformed Church,

Eden Street, Kingston, KT1 1HZ

We are always keen to hear what you have to say and answer any questions you have but it is particularly important that you attend this meeting as there are many changes going on regarding self directed support in the Borough of Kingston.

Most notably Direct Payments will soon be paid as a ‘single rate’. This means that Top Up claims, including Holiday Pay and Employer’s National Insurance Contribution, will no longer be available as they will be included in the rate initially paid out by the Council. You will be responsible for identifying your DP-related expenses, and budgeting for these out of your Single Rate allocation.

The Direct Payment Service Support is also going to be offering a range of new services in this coming year. These will include an enhanced role in payroll support, providing inductions and training opportunities to PAs, an improved PA Notice Board service to assist DP recipients in finding staff and improve support for you as employers.

We at KCIL desperately need your thoughts, experience and input into the development of these new services and to make sure they work for you. These changes have the potential to greatly improve the support offered to direct payment recipients but without your input we might miss vital points that only somebody actually using the services could spot. Your expertise is needed.

One of our goals for next year is to improve the training available to PA’s so we have Christine Rudling from RBK coming to talk about the training available and how this can benefit both employer and employee.

This meeting will give you opportunity to have your say and to discuss matters concerning you. We can reimburse any travel and/or PA expenses arising from the meeting, and will provide you with the forms you need to do so at the meeting. Be sure to save your travel receipts.

Morning Tea/Coffee and lunch will be provided.

RSVP by Friday, 14th May 2010 to avoid disappointment!

Return the RSVP form attached to Maria Keskes at KCIL. You can also send email to maria.keskes@kcil.org.uk or phone her directly on 020 8481 1449.

We look forward to seeing you on 20th May !!!
